How to Make Kitchen Cabinets with Plywood
Prepare the plywood surface by sanding it smooth and clean, ensuring it’s completely dust-free and flat. Apply a thin, even layer of contact cement to both the plywood surface and the back of the veneer sheet.
Let the cement dry for about 15-20 minutes until it becomes tacky but doesn’t stick to your finger.
Carefully position the veneer, starting from one edge and slowly rolling it down to avoid air bubbles. Use a roller to press the veneer firmly, working from the center outwards.
Trim excess edges with a sharp utility knife, using a metal straightedge as a guide. Sand the edges lightly for a smooth finish, and apply a clear protective coat to seal and protect your new veneer surface.
Potential Challenges: Some veneers can be tricky to work with, and bubbles or wrinkles can form if you’re not careful. Go slowly and be patient with the process.
