When working with 1/2″ plywood, selecting the right nail size is crucial for a secure and long-lasting connection. For most applications, we recommend using 6d (penny) nails, which are approximately 2 inches long. These nails provide adequate penetration without risking splitting the wood or protruding through the opposite side.
For heavier-duty applications or when attaching plywood to harder woods, you may consider using 8d nails, which are about 2.5 inches long. However, be cautious of overdriving these longer nails, as they may pierce through the plywood.
